"STORM-M" Technology

The aim of training of any specialist is acquiring necessary theoretical knowledge, practical skills and examination of knowledge and skills.

To achieve these objectives experts developed “STORM-M Technology” implying the use of modern information technologies and consisting of 3 modules:

•  Module №1 "Alfa". Acquisition of theoretical knowledge with the help of Multimedia educational-methodological complexes (CBT)
•  Module №2 "Bravo". Acquisition of practical skills with the help of Marine Simulators & Multimedia training software
•  Module №3 "Delta". Examination of knowledge and skills with the help of Programs of knowledge evauation

Modules №1 and №3 are designed for acquisition and assessment of theoretical knowledge, that’s why they can be studied in an equipped computer classroom as well as with the help of distance technologies using the STORM Learning management system. Training and examination should be carried under supervision of a qualified instructor.

The study of Module №2 is carried in a specially equipped classroom with the use of marine simulators and Multimedia training software. Students are allowed to undergo simulator training after studying the whole theoretical course according to Module №1 and passing intermediate examination according to Module №3.

When Module №2 is completed the students undergo some training exercises using the simulator which allows controlling the level of acquired skills in conditions close to reality and assessment with the use of the knowledge evaluation software. In the end students are guided to the final examination.

Multimedia educational-methodological complexes (CBT Library)

 Multimedia educational-methodological complexes (CBT Library) consist of multimedia educational modules (CBT).

Multimedia educational module is an electronic textbook dedicated to one or several topics of specialized disciplines. Textbook consists of testing sections for independent verification of acquired knowledge of the student. The theoretical material is accompanied by drawings, schemes, photos, animations and videos.

MEM software is meant for operating in networked computer classrooms.

When demonstration equipment is installed pages of electronic textbook can be used as multimedia posters.

 Module №2 "Bravo". Acquisition of practical skills 

Marine Simulators & Multimedia training software

Multimedia Training Software (MTS) is intended for formation primary skills of operating the equipment used on water transport. 

MTS consists of:

• marine simulator imitating the equipment working,
• multimedia lessons and instructions on study of the principles of operating the equipment,
• multimedia lessons are realized as videos and animations.

When demonstration equipment is installed MTS can be used as multimedia posters.

 Module №3 "Delta". Examination of knowledge and skills

Programs of knowledge evauation

Programs of knowledge evaluation (PKE) are designed for intermediate and final examination of students' knowledge (crew knowledge assessment) on various types of training as well as for professional selection and periodic examination of the company’s personnel.

PKE consist of the Instructor WorkPlace (IWP) software and Student WorkPlaces (WPS).

IWP functions

• forming and giving tasks for examination,
• storing reports on test results in archive

The main function of WPS is training and examination.

 “STORM-M" Technology can significantly improve the quality and efficiency of the process of theoretical and practical training of students or to train from the very beginning, making it a persistent (year round) and accessible to students from remote regions.

In order to implement the “Storm-M” Technology into training process of educational institutions our company designs and equips Multi-Classes for training of different water transport specialists.

Technology has been successfully applied in many educational institutions for training of crew members of sea and river vessels, small craft navigators and specialists of shipping companies.
