Training of able seamen and ratings forming part of a navigational watch is carried out with the help of “Able seaman” Learning management system and “SSH-2009” Simulator developed by our company.

New STCW Code Amendment coming into effect in 2012 allows distance training of seamen. 
 “Able seaman” system of distance training includes:

• “STORM” Learning management system,
• “WEB-DELTA” Distance Knowledge Evaluation System.

Complex training of helmsmen in accordance with “STORM-M” Technology with the help of “Able seaman” system of distance training in Arkhangelsk Marine Fishery College is organized in the following way:
 
   “Alpha” Module

Theoretical training is carried out in distance form in “STORM” LMS with the help of CBT Library. 
   
   “Bravo” Module

Acquisition and drilling of practical skills is carried out intramural on the installed “SSH-2009” Simulator. 
   
    “Delta” Module

Training for final examination is carried out in distance form with the help of “Delta-Helmsman” database coordinated with Federal Service for the Oversight of Transport in “Web-Delta” Distance Knowledge Evaluation System.

Implementation of “STORM-M” Technology together with distance systems allows College to:

• Enlarge profitability of its activities by reducing the prime cost of training;
• Start training of students at any time convenient not waiting for group formation;
• Provide study of theory, training for examination and consultations in any place at any time;
• Control the level of students’ knowledge.

Students of College registered in “STORM” LMS and “Web-Delta” Distance Knowledge Evaluation System obtain the following possibilities:

• go through theoretical training in any place at any time convenient (from the computer connected to Internet);
• get access to electronic training courses;
• train for examination;
• receive consultations of instructor with the help of Internet forums subsystem.
